About the aircraft at the top of each page. It's a 1936 Rearwin 7000 "Sportster". I bought it with my life savings of $900.00, shortly after graduating from high school. Other kids bought hot rods, I wanted to learn to fly!
This aircraft was a poor choice. The engine, a 5 cyl. Leblond Radial, was cantankerous and required a lot of maintenance. So, I learned more about aircraft repairing than flying. However, I did become proficient at forced landings.
The pictures were taken in 1969. The aircraft, like me, has survived over the years. It now resides in the Historical Aircraft museum in Creve Coer, Missouri.
Some day, I am going to build a 1/3 scale model of this aircraft & re-live my youth without the risk involved.
Hi, my name is John Richardson, I've been building flying aircraft models since 1957, starting with a Jim Walker U-Control Kit. Many builds later and after a 34 year career in full scale aviation, I've decided it's time to concentrate on the fun stuff- AVIATION MODELS!
For the past 18 years, I've been involved in RC scale building and flying. My full scale aviation experience leaves me uniquely qualified to properly create the larger scale RC models.
Regardless of the scope of the project, the same attention to detail and quality workmanship that has served me so well in full scale aviation, will be applied to your project. You can also expect your project to be completed in a timely manner- Building Is Mostly All I Do Now.
I also have some finished, ready to fly aircraft available for sale.
